General Description
|
The Surry County Schools Youth-At-Promise Plan for PRC 145, which is a 3-year federal grant, will use 3 Youth-At-Promise Success Coaches to support student populations that are high-priority, at-risk students [“at-promise”] (students with disabilities, migrant youth, foster care, Multilingual Learners, Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness, emotional or behavioral problems, truancy, low academic performance, showing a lack of interest for academics, and expressing a disconnection from the school environment) in grades 6-10, along with SCS families who have “at-promise” students in those grade spans. The Youth-At-Promise Success Coach will serve as a foundational contact person to support re-engagement in school, and help create Youth-At-Promise Plans which enable the students to graduate and have a career or college goal prepared upon graduation.

General requirements
|
The At-Promise Success Coach will focus on Tier 3 students in grades 6-10, who require frequent contact with a set individual who monitors their academic and mental-health well-being to ensure the students remain in school and graduate as well as exploring and understanding their options for career and college. The AT-Promise Success Coach will attend to the following:
- Academic, Life, and Leadership-PBIS
- MTSS-Tutoring support, Credit Recovery, progress towards graduation
- Providing supplies and materials for equitable access for At-Promise Youth
- Eliminating gaps due to Learning Loss
- Data (Daily Communication Logs, Student Attendance, Grades, etc. )and Reporting for each At-Promise Youth for which he or she is assigned
- Collaborate with the Youth-At Promise Bilingual Parent & Family Coordinator to plan and implement “Family At-Promise Plans” to assist parents and families in understanding how to be supportive in goal-setting and attainment.
If appropriate, or needed, for the student, the At-Promise Success Coach will:
- Connect Youth-At-Promise with Businesses, Internships & Apprenticeships, and other workforce development opportunities to encourage them to reach their full potential and goals.
- Communicate with the Mental Health FIrst Aid-Teens Team to connect student with mental health well-being support

Education Requirements
|
- Minimum, Bachelor’s Degree: education, counseling, or other relevant field
- Preferred, prior experience working with family groups
