The Surry County Schools Youth-At-Promise Plan for PRC 145, which is a 3-year federal grant, will use 3 Youth-At-Promise Success Coaches to support student populations that are high-priority, at-risk students [“at-promise”] (students with disabilities, migrant youth, foster care, Multilingual Learners, Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness, emotional or behavioral problems, truancy, low academic performance, showing a lack of interest for academics, and expressing a disconnection from the school environment) in grades 6-10, along with SCS families who have “at-promise” students in those grade spans. The Youth-At-Promise Success Coach will serve as a foundational contact person to support re-engagement in school, and help create Youth-At-Promise Plans which enable the students to graduate and have a career or college goal prepared upon graduation.
